ABOUT THE WCUSO

The West Chester University Symphony Orchestra is a respected and vibrant ensemble of the School of Music. We present 6 to 7 concerts each year, performing music from the 18th century to the present, and an annual spring outdoor picnic concert called the "Quad Concert.” Performances are sometimes presented off campus in guest locations, and at various area schools and festivals. These concerts have been in distinguished venues like the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia.

We annually invite distinguished masterclass artists, such as Ricardo Morales and Amy Oshiro of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Our concerts include innovations like smartphone-friendly program guides, pre-concert chats with guest artists, audience interaction features, and member spotlights. Orchestra members write program notes, create concert PowerPoint presentations, and participate in creating and launching new initiatives. Membership is open by audition to any student attending West Chester University.
